The summer offseason is in full swing, and Lettermen Row is trying to survive it with our annual Position Week breakdowns. By the time all nine units and coaching staff at Ohio State have been covered, training camp and media days will nearly have arrived, and the return of football in the Horseshoe will be just around the corner. Let’s kick off our positional weeks with the most important position on the field: quarterbacks.

COLUMBUS — C.J. Stroud didn’t have to win a quarterback battle this spring at Ohio State.

Unlike last year, Stroud entered the critical offseason as the clear-cut No. 1 in the Buckeyes offense and on the entire roster. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t intrigue at the quarterback position as they head into summer.

Backups Kyle McCord and Devin Brown are both gaining reps, trying to position themselves to become the starter once Stroud decides to take off for the NFL — which could be after this fall.

Lettermen Row staff writer Spencer Holbrook is joined by Lettermen Row’s Jeremy Birmingham for a jam-packed discussion about the Buckeyes quarterback room to kick off the week of content revolving around the signal-callers at Ohio State. After hearing from the all three scholarship quarterbacks this spring and watching practices in March and April, there was so much to break down.

How much better can C.J. Stroud be in Year Two as a starter for Ohio State? Is Kyle McCord still on track to become to full-time starter when Stroud leaves for the NFL? How is Devin Brown progressing in his first offseason with the Buckeyes program? What is the outlook of the 2023 quarterback recruiting? And how good is Dylan Raiola for recruiting the other key positions?

Those topics and more are featured in the latest Practice Report and State of the Position from Lettermen Row, as we dive into everything Buckeyes quarterbacks.
