C.J. Stroud spotted in Southern California at Elite 11 Finals

C.J. Stroud returned to a familiar spot this week, one he knows as a place that put him in the national spotlight.

Stroud returned to the Elite 11 Finals — as a well known college passer — just three years after winning the MVP honors at the country’s top quarterback showcase and summer recruiting event as a recruit. Three years after he took home that hardware, Stroud is a Heisman Trophy candidate for the Buckeyes.

He and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, were spotted on the field before Wednesday night’s festivities talking to participants and throwing the ball together. Stroud went through a Pro Day script and had plenty of velocity on the ball, according to the On3 boots-on-the-ground coverage. He was accurate on 17 of his 20 passes.

New Ohio State Recruiting Podcast episode

The Buckeyes opened their doors to another batch of uncommitted, highly-rated prospects who took official visits to Columbus over the weekend. That group was led by Lee, five-star defensive back Caleb Downs, who appears to be trending toward the Buckeyes, and Justice Haynes, a four-star running back.

Lettermen Row staffers Spencer Holbrook and Andrew Ellis are back to break down every angle of it on the Lettermen Row Recruiting Podcast. And there was a lot to discuss and break down.

The guys made sure to reach out to their sources and gather intel from the weekend, and the show is the perfect place to talk about what they’re hearing after the weekend that was.

Those are some of the key discussion points on this week’s episode. The duo of Lettermen Row staffers break down the big recruiting weekends behind the Buckeyes along with a a game of In or Out, using only visitors from the past weekend.

Ohio State hoops releases nonconference schedule

Ohio State will officially open its season Nov. 7 at home against Robert Morris, kicking off Year Six of the Chris Holtmann Era for the basketball program. That game will be the first of three straight home games before the Buckeyes head to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, where they could potentially play Arkansas, Arizona, Cincinnati, Creighton, Louisville, San Diego State or Texas Tech, depending on how the tournament draw goes.

Following the trip to Maui, the Buckeyes will have a week off before a tough road trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium to face as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. That game will be on ESPN, and it’s the highlight of the nonconference slate — until Dec. 17.

That’s when Ohio State will take part in the CBS Sports Classic with Kentucky, UCLA and North Carolina. The Tar Heels are a trendy pick already to be the No. 1 team in the country, and they are the Buckeyes presumed opponent for that matchup. Ohio State ends its nonconference schedule against Maine and Alabama A&M.
