COLUMBUS — Ohio State is nearly finished with its 15 spring practices. But that certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t storylines everywhere as the spring game arrives.

The Buckeyes will kick off their annual spring scrimmage inside Ohio Stadium on Saturday at noon. And while the Buckeyes want to avoid injuries in a scrimmage, they want to get real game reps in, too.

Don’t expect to see thud-only play on Saturday. The Buckeyes are going to be full-go with some units and tackling at times during the day.

“The first game of the year, we play Notre Dame at home,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said on Thursday. “We have to be ready to roll. Once you start getting into the preseason, you get closer and closer to that first game, you start to really hold your breath because you don’t want to lose guys. But we have to tackle. We have to play physical. We have to play tough.

“If we want to reach our goals this year, we’re going to have to be that way and play that way. So, we’ll do that on Saturday.”

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by staffers Spencer Holbrook and Tim May for a jam-packed discussion about the Buckeyes as the spring practice sessions wind down and the spring game draws near. After hearing from every position group at Ohio State this spring, there was so much to break down after Ryan Day’s spring wrap-up press conference.

What were the biggest takeaways from the media session at Ohio State head coach Ryan Day on Friday? Who is making the most progress as spring ends? Which underrated Buckeyes player will be a breakout star of the spring game? And what be the expectations for the ‘safety-driven’ defense on Saturday in a packed Horseshoe?

That’s the summary of the latest Practice Report presented by Byers Auto, the best place to buy a new or used car in Central Ohio. Check out the video below or on the Lettermen Row Youtube channel.
