COLUMBUS — Ohio State hadn’t had a media day since the Peach Bowl loss to Georgia.

That changed Wednesday, when Ryan Day, all 10 assistant coaches and a couple of other key staff members met with the media for a full day of questions and answers to officially kick off an offseason of football workouts.

Lettermen Row was inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for a massive day with Ryan Day and the Ohio State assistants. And the crew of Spencer Holbrook, Tim May and Andy Backstrom have plenty of takeaways from every interview — and then some.

Oh, and there was also discussion about legendary linebacker James Laurinaitis, who was added to the Ohio State coaching staff last week. Laurinaitis will serve as a defensive graduate assistant and work with the Buckeyes’ linebacker room for the 2023 season. He held that same role at Notre Dame under former Ohio State teammate Marcus Freeman last year. Now, Laurinaitis will be reunited with another former teammate: Buckeyes offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.

What were the biggest lessons learned from the big day of media sessions with the Buckeyes? Is Ohio State already seeing progress from young, rising players in winter workouts? Who will break out? To find out, watch the latest Lettermen Row Offseason Report presented by Byers Auto with Spencer Holbrook, Tim May and Andy Backstrom from the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
