COLUMBUS — New Palestine (Ind.) 2024 offensive lineman Ian Moore wants to stay in the Midwest.

Moore grew up in Indiana, and he said he loves the way schools play football in Big Ten country.

It’s why an offer from Ohio State would be so special.

“It would really mean a lot, actually,” Moore said. “I mean, it’s Ohio State. You just say ‘Ohio State’ and everyone’s impressed. I mean, just the culture, the level of talent that’s here. It would mean a ton.”

After speaking with Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day on Wednesday, Moore got that offer.

Moore is a four-star prospect ranked No. 219 nationally in the 2024 On3 Consensus. He has offers from all across the Big Ten — a region he feels connected to.

“I’ve only been to a couple of places,” Moore said. “So you know, I haven’t gotten to experience a lot. But I really like Midwestern [schools] because I’m from here, I like it here. I really like the Midwestern schools and the way they play, the way they train their players. So anywhere kind of works in this area.”

Moore’s trip to Columbus on Wednesday was his first time experiencing a school-based camp, with another camp at Alabama on deck this week.

Coming into camps, the 6-foot-6, 295-pound Moore said he prioritizes the fit with not just the program, but more specifically the position coach.

“Your skill position coach means a lot to you,” Moore said. “You’re with that dude almost 24-7. So, I kind of see if I can fit with his play style and his coaching. Obviously, you’ve got to see if you like the coach first and how he coaches you.”

Wednesday, that coach was Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye.

“It was just extremely knowledgeable to learn from him,” Moore said. “He was kind of like, pro-style offense. He was teaching that instead of like we’re playing for high school. He’s teaching us to play for the pros and college.”

This was Moore’s first time working with Justin Frye, who he said has picked up the Ohio State culture well since arriving in Columbus. Notably, Moore emphasized Frye’s focus on footwork throughout Wednesday’s camp drills.

But, footwork wasn’t at least a totally new concept to Moore, whose high school coach played professional football.

“My high school coach actually played in the pros,” Moore said. “Every day we’re working on footwork. So it wasn’t that much of a difference, but [Frye] kind of enforces it more — rather than my coach, is kind of relaxed.”

Having been on-campus at Ohio State multiple times, Moore had high praise for the state capital.

“It’s a beautiful place,” Moore said. “Columbus is amazing. The facilities are obviously top-tier. The coaches are nice. When I came through, I got to see a couple of players and they were really cool. It was a really nice experience.”

Now, after an impressive one-day camp in front of Frye, the next time Moore travels to Columbus will be with an offer to Ohio State.

“I’m definitely going to try to get up for a game,” Moore said. “It’s real close to home, it’s a really easy drive. I’m definitely going to try to get back here during the fall and get to see a game.”

Buckeyes offer 2024 Consensus four-star TE

After working with tight ends coach and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson in the morning camp session Wednesday, Christian Bentancur spoke with Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and earned an offer from the Buckeyes.

Bentancur, a 2024 tight end out of Woodstock Marian Central Catholic (Ill.), is a four-star prospect ranked No. 298 nationally in the 2024 On3 Consensus. He’s the No. 15 tight end in America and the No. 7 recruit in Illinois.
