COLUMBUS — Ohio State is in the running for one of the country’s most talented running backs and a major prospect within its home turf.

Four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall announced his top four schools Thursday afternoon and Ohio State made the cut.

Michigan, Wisconsin and Tennessee also made the cut for the No. 45 overall prospect and the No. 4 running back in the 2024 cycle per On3.

Lettermen Row very recently has written plenty about the Buckeyes’ top running back priority in the 2024 cycle.

Now that they remain in contention for his pledge, we break down his timeline and what to expect next.

An intense workout and an offer

Jordan Marshall and his rise to a nationally-known prospect truly started after he camped at Ohio State last June.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound, tailback turned in one of the best workouts that camped at Ohio State on June 14. He was offered by both head coach Ryan Day and running back coach Tony Alford inside Day’s office at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Marshall after that June camp turned in a spectacular junior season for the Crusaders. He rushed for almost 2,000 yards and scored 30 touchdowns en route to a final-four finish in Division I.

Top Four breakdown

In the time after the Ohio State offer, six more programs offered the standout from southwest Ohio — Oregon being the latest.

The offers will continue to pour in. Marshall is the type of prospect, however, to announce a top four and only consider the programs he has announced.

He has visited all four of the schools listed and has visited them multiple times — Ohio State and Michigan receiving the most. Marshall visited all four during the January contact period and ended his tour with Wisconsin followed by Tennessee.

What’s next?

It’s expected that since Marshall has announced his top four, each of the four will receive an official visit.

That would leave him with one unused official visit, but before any official visit happens, it is almost certain he will make unofficial visits during the spring to see the programs in spring ball.

Marshall told Zach Libby of The Wolverine he expects to announce his decision in July — specifically around July 4.

Will it be the Buckeyes that earn Marshall’s pledge? Can they do enough to stave off the Wolverines, Badgers and Volunteers?

Lettermen Row will closely follow this recruitment as the 2024 cycle is now officially under the limelight.
