COLUMBUS – After back-to-back weeks of getting a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Ohio State five-star quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Quinn Ewers, Lettermen Row’s Tim May returns with another deep dive this week.

On this week’s edition of the Tim May Podcast, Tim shifts his focus to women making the climb up the athletic ranks, including Diana Sabau, the Big Ten Conference’s deputy commissioner and chiefs sports officer.

Prior to her role in the Big Ten conference, Sabau was a staff member in the Ohio State athletic department for 27 years. That included serving as deputy athletic director from 2017-2021 as the sports department’s second-highest ranked administrator behind Gene Smith. She then left her role at Ohio State to oversee all 28 of the Big Ten’s sponsored sports as the league’s first-ever chief sports officer.

Sabau joins Tim on the podcast to discuss her extensive role that she began in March 2021. She discusses how she hopes to help the Big Ten grow, her vision for the league’s sports over the next several years and how her time at Ohio State helped prepare her.

Sabau is one of the most successful female administrators in the history of Ohio State athletics. She helped oversee the Buckeyes growth in partnerships with companies such as Nike, Gatorade, CBS and the Big Ten Network.

Throughout those many years, Sabau learned several important lessons along the way, and she has become an inspiration to many women who are hoping to break through in the sports administration business and excel in their career.

What advice does Sabau have for those hoping to follow a similar career path as her? What goals does she have for the Big Ten Conference in the 2020s?
