Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players and Ohio State coaches and staff members themselves. Today, we’re talking with 5-star 2022 quarterback Quinn Ewers who committed to Ohio State on Nov. 19.
There’s no stage too big for Quinn Ewers, and maybe that’s why the idea of committing to two of the country’s most pressure-packed college football programs in a three-month span didn’t scare him.
Pressure is what the 5-star quarterback from Southlake (Texas) Carroll High School seeks. And in Texas, it’s just as big a deal right now to be the starting quarterback at Carroll as it is to be the starting quarterback at any college program. Heck, Ewers dreamed of playing for the Dragons well before he dreamt of playing anywhere else. But before he ever played for Carroll, he’d already earned an offer from Ohio State.
After an early commitment to Texas fizzled out, Ewers reassessed and quickly decided that the Buckeyes were the program that would give him the best chance to develop into the player that everyone in the recruiting world thinks he can be.
It’s always looked easy for Quinn Ewers, going back to the first time that Lettermen Row saw him camp in Columbus in the summer of 2018.
For my money, the best quarterback in attendance was 2022 – yes, a player getting ready to enter his freshmen year of high school – prospect Quinn Ewers. He’s going to be a star Southlake Carroll in Texas.
The MaxPreps.com Sophomore of the Year following a standout 2019 season, Ewers sat down and talked about his recent college decision, his role as a recruiter, why the efforts by Corey Dennis were unique in his recruitment and more in the latest episode of Birminology.
