FOX puts B1G title game back in primetime slot

Ohio State has won the last four Big Ten title games. And the folks in the desert think the Buckeyes will capture a fifth-straight conference crown this fall.

Three of those four title games have come in the prime-time, 8 p.m. time slot on FOX. But the network moved last year’s title game to a Noon kickoff. FOX has decided the Big Ten’s best teams — presumably the Buckeyes — deserve to be back in primetime.

FOX announced this week the time and date of the Big Ten title game, which will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The game will be on Dec. 4 and kickoff at 8 p.m. in front of the national FOX audience.

Ohio State isn’t a lock to get to Indianapolis, but the Buckeyes are the favorite. And unlike last year, if they get there, they’ll play in prime time.

Buckeyes gearing up for busy recruiting month

Ohio State — and the rest of college football teams — hasn’t had any recruits on campus for visits in 16 months. But that is coming to an end starting June 2, when the dead period is lifted. June will be the busiest month of recruiting in the modern recruiting era at Ohio State. So how are the Buckeyes handling it?

Lettermen Row’s Birm has more:

Recruiting is almost all the way back, and when the 16-month-long dead period ends on Monday night, things are going to get a bit weird for Buckeyes recruiting ace Mark Pantoni. The next four weeks will test the mental and physical limits of everyone tasked with Ohio State’s June recruiting blitz. It’s all hands on deck with hundreds of unofficial visitors coming to town, more than 50 official visits scheduled and thousands of young players heading to Columbus for one-day camps.

It’s going to be unlike anything Pantoni, the Buckeyes recruiting leader and director of player personnel, has ever seen.

“For one month, it’s very overwhelming,” Pantoni said Friday morning. “In a normal year, [we] probably get in the high 40s to low 50s [official visitors.] So this is this is pretty extraordinary.

“We’re just trying to take it day by day right now. But starting next Tuesday, it’s on.”

ICYMI: Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

Ohio State has a quarterback competition carrying into a busy summer. As part of Quarterback Week at Lettermen Row, the crew is back at Roosters to break it all down.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham, Nicole Cox from Roosters, former Buckeyes quarterback Justin Zwick and former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter to talk about all-time great Ohio State quarterbacks and plenty more.

Which Buckeyes quarterback would they take in a winner-take-all scenario? Which quarterback has the edge in the current competition? Those questions need answers.

The panel also talks about how the quarterback competition could play out and gave some of the usual off-the-rails and hilarious commentary.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.
