J.T. Tuimoloau already recruiting fellow five-star for Buckeyes

J.T. Tuimoloau, the No. 1 player in the country for the class of 2021 per 247Sports.com, committed to Ohio State on Sunday. He began recruiting for the Buckeyes on Monday.

After committing to the Buckeyes and posting a graphic of his commitment on Instagram, Tuimoloau made an Instagram comment to 2022 five-star defensive end Omari Abor, saying “let’s be great fam.” Abor responded with: “Aye… you kno I’m down”

Tuimoloau will already be playing alongside five-star defensive ends Jack Sawyer and Zach Harrison, among other talented players, on the Ohio State roster this season. But if he can be an elite recruiter for the Buckeyes now that he’s committed, other five-star players will want to line up with he and Sawyer in the future.

And the Buckeyes defensive line could become even scarier than it already is with Tuimoloau on the roster.

Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

Ohio State rang in the Fourth of July with a boom of its own. The Buckeyes celebrated the holiday weekend by landing J.T. Tuimoloau, the No. 1-ranked prospect in the country according to 247Sports.com in the class of 2021 on Sunday. His commitment makes him the highest-ranked defensive recruit to ever commit to Ohio State, taking the title away from his new teammate, Jack Sawyer.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham, Nicole Cox from Roosters and former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter to talk about the elite talent Ohio State just gained on the defensive line and more from the world of Buckeyes athletics.

As part of Linebackers Week at Lettermen Row, the crew broke down the depth of the Silver Bullets. The Buckeyes have to replace three-time captain Tuf Borland, three-year starter Pete Werner, sixth-year warrior Justin Hilliard and dynamic Baron Browning. Now Al Washington is forced to reload all at once, and Dallas Gant and Teradja Mitchell will have to rise into leadership roles.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.

Ohio State lands yet another four-star wide receiver

Four months ago, Kojo Antwi was ready to end his recruitment — and at least temporarily he had eliminated Ohio State from his list of possibilities.

That last roughly an hour or two. The 4-star receiver from Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) High School got a phone call from Buckeyes receivers coach Brian Hartline that day when the story hit social media. After the chat with the Ohio State assistant, Antwi told Lettermen Row that things weren’t quite so cut-and-dried.

Now he’s the latest member of the loaded, top-ranked 2022 recruiting class for the Buckeyes. Antwi announced his decision Monday on Twitter.

Ohio State has recruited the wide receiver position better than any program in the country over the last three years, and the addition of Kojo Antwi underscores how highly recruits all over the nation view the opportunity to learn from Hartline. Antwi joins 5-star Caleb Burton and fellow 4-star prospects Kyion Grayes and Kaleb Brown as commitments in 2022. Early in this cycle, there was not really a need to take four wideouts, but roster attrition — both now and with potential NFL departures — have left the room talented, but thinner, than Ryan Day and Ohio State would like.

Antwi chose the Buckeyes over Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama and USC.
