Duane Washington picked up by the Phoenix Suns

Former Ohio State guard Duane Washington, who clawed and scratched his way to earn a spot on the Indiana Pacers roster last season after going undrafted, was waived by the Pacers in July. He now has found a new home.

Washington was picked up Tuesday evening by the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski. Washington was originally waived for the Pacers to make room to sign all-star center Deandre Ayton, but Ayton stuck with the Suns. Now, they’re teammates in Phoenix.

Washington averaged 9.9 points per game in 48 games for the Pacers last season. He broke out as one of the surprising rookies of the NBA season and carved out a prominent role for a struggling Indiana team.

Now he’s joining a true NBA contender. Duane Washington is heading to the Phoenix Suns.

Ty Lockwood flips from Ohio State to Alabama

Ohio State lost its longest committed prospects in one of the more sturdy position boards: Ty Lockwood has decommited from the Buckeyes.

Ty Lockwood committed to Ohio State back in August 2021 and was the first in the 2023 cycle to make his pledge to the Buckeyes. Lockwood picked up his Ohio State offer in February 2021 and it was the only school throughout his recruitment he visited more than once.

Lockwood took his only official visit to Ohio State back in June during one of the larger visit weekends for the program and while his recruitment seemed a lock, another program has entered the scene.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end earned an offer from Alabama on July 29 and took four days to decommit from the Buckeyes.

Counting down

Buckeyes training camp opens: 1 day away

Buckeyes season opener vs. Notre Dame: 31 days away

Ohio State vs. Michigan: 115 days away
