Former Buckeyes star earns massive contract with Jazz

Mike Conley Jr. has been a star in the NBA since he left Ohio State more than a decade ago.

He is now being rewarded for his play, Conley, who has spent the last two seasons with the Utah Jazz and became a free agent after last season, reportedly agreed a massive three-year, $72.5 million contract to remain with the Jazz.

Conley, 33, is fresh off his first all-star selection and has played some of the best basketball of his career since being traded from Memphis to Utah.

The Jazz certainly like having the former Buckeyes superstar guard. They locked him up for the next three seasons with a massive new contract, and he’ll have a chance to chase a championship for the next three years with Utah.

New Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

Five-star Quinn Ewers will be suiting up at Ohio State this fall, coming to Columbus just in time for training camp.

And Lettermen Live is back at Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus to break it all down, from the recruiting side to the quarterback room now.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham, former Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick, former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter and Nicole Cox from Roosters. The crew analyze how Quinn Ewers’ early arrival will impact the Buckeyes quarterback competition and depth chart this season.

The crew also previews some of the most intriguing position battles, the players they are most interested in evaluating and other storylines they are watching heading into the 2021 season as Ohio State opens training camp on Tuesday. The gang hands out its first edition of Buckeye Leaves to players they expect to break out over the next month before the season starts.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.

Buckeyes tight end commit joins Birminology

Ohio State knew its committed players were going to be excited to get on campus as soon as possible this summer. Bennett Christian, one of the Buckeyes 2022 recruiting class leaders, didn’t want to hesitate. He was one of double-digit verbals who made the trip to Columbus on the first weekend of the June live recruiting period.

It was the first time that the 6-foot-6, 235-pound Christian had been on campus at Ohio State with a chance to meet his future coaches, and future teammates, in person.

One of the players Christian was vital in recruiting, Benji Gosnell, has decommitted. That decision has a number of implications for Christian, who has planned on being one part of a two-man tight end group in 2022. Now, that’s up in the air as the Buckeyes try and sort out their options.

How did Ohio State coaches respond to Christian during his official visit? What players is he focused on recruiting now?

The future Buckeyes tight end joined Birminology on Lettermen Row to talk about that stuff and more.
