Pair of Buckeyes listed on LOTT Impact Trophy watch list

Ohio State annually develops some of the top talent in the nation, resulting in the Buckeyes littering college football preseason watch lists. This summer is no different.

Safety Ronnie Hickman and defensive end Zach Harrison have landed on the 2022 Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list, which is awarded to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. Named after former USC and NFL cornerback Ronnie Lott, the award considers players’ character and their play on the field.

Hickman led the Buckeyes in tackles last season, while Harrison finished with second-team All-Big Ten honors. Each are expected to play major leadership roles in Year 1 of Ohio State’s revamped defense under Jim Knowles.

The duo of Ohio State defenders are just the first of many Buckeyes to land on a watch list before the season kicks off on Sept. 3.

Noah Rogers sets Ohio State visit, talks Buckeyes, recruiting timeline

The first — and only — visit to Ohio State for Noah Rogers left a great impression on the top-ranked 2023 football prospect in North Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver had high expectations going into that trip. He told Lettermen Row about those expectations in February at the Under Armor Camp Series stop in Atlanta. Getting to spend more time with Brian Hartline was the most important part of that trip.

The four-star receiver from Rolesville (N.C.) High School talks about those things and more in the latest edition of Birminology from Lettermen Row.

Quarterback isn’t the only position group that is full of intrigue for the Buckeyes though. Ohio State is closing in on a great offensive recruiting class but how is the defense faring with three new assistant coaches? What is happening at linebacker and defensive back, including young in-state talents like Jermaine Mathews? There are a lot of questions right now and the answers are coming soon for Ohio State.

The next big recruiting push is coming for the Buckeyes and it starts two weeks from now. The Class of 2023 and the Class of 2024 will gain major clarity by the the June ends.

Those are some of the key discussion points on this week’s episode of Talking Stuff: The Ohio State Recruiting Podcast presented by Byers Auto. The latest episode features Lettermen Row recruiting analyst Jeremy Birmingham alongside Andrew Ellis with a guest appearance from On3.com national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman. The group breaks down Siereveld’s recruitment along with a rundown of the latest version of The List from Lettermen Row.
