Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Buckeyes won’t replace The Game on schedule, crowned East champs

The Game is officially off. And there won’t be a replacement this week, meaning the regular season is over. And Ohio State is only 5-0.

The Buckeyes will be going to the Big Ten title game, though, despite not meeting the arbitrary six-game threshold established by the Big Ten this fall. The league scrapped that rule when it realized that the Buckeyes would have still gone to the Big Ten title game, even with a loss to Michigan on Saturday. So the undefeated Buckeyes, who have their eyes set on the College Football Playoff, are now Big Ten East champions, and they now have more than a week to prepare for No. 14 Northwestern in Indianapolis on Dec. 19.

They won’t be in action this week after The Game was canceled. But the Buckeyes will battle Northwestern next week with a fourth-straight Big Ten crown and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff on the line.

Which 2021 Buckeyes commits will enroll early?

Ohio State has one of the best recruiting classes in the country for the 2021 recruiting cycle. And some of those future Buckeyes will be enrolling shortly after next week’s signing day, when the Buckeyes are expecting to sign at least 20 prospects. So who will be joining the football program for the spring semester and hitting the practice field in January?

Lettermen Row recruiting ace Jeremy Birmingham has some of those details:

As of right now, there are 14 future Buckeyes getting set to head to Columbus. But any potential additions to the Ohio State 2021 class during the early signing period — namely 5-star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka — could still decide to do similarly. These are the young men expected to be starting their college careers when January hits.
