15 future Buckeyes land in latest On300 rankings

Monday was yet another reminder of just how good Ohio State is on the recruiting trail.

In the latest update to the On300 national recruiting rankings from On3, Ohio State has 15 of the top 300 players in the country for the class of 2022. That, of course, is led by new No. 1 overall player Devin Brown, a talented quarterback from Utah who signed with the Buckeyes, and No. 4 overall player Sonny Styles, a safety who reclassified.

Of the 21 players committed to the Buckeyes, 15 of them are in the top 300, and all of them can help Ohio State try to get back to the College Football Playoff and potentially win a national title.

It served as just another reminder of how good the Buckeyes are on the recruiting trail.

Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

The Buckeyes have hit the ground running during a critical offseason for the Buckeyes program.

To break down those changes, Lettermen Live, hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road, returns for another episode of analysis.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward hosts a group that features former Buckeyes linebacker Bobby Carpenter, former Ohio State defensive back Tyvis Powell and Lettermen Row beat writer Spencer Holbrook.

The crew touches on the return of players to the facilities for winter workouts as Ohio State assistant athletic director for football sports performance – aka the strength and conditioning coach – Mickey Marotti and his staff gear up the Buckeyes.

In other national news, Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow has made headlines by leading the Bengals to the AFC Championship Game in his second season – and first playoff appearance – in the NFL.

The Lettermen Live crew discusses Burrow’s sizzling start to his career. And they revisit Burrow’s career at Ohio State, where the former Buckeyes quarterback lost a battle to Dwayne Haskins before transferring to LSU and winning a Heisman Trophy and national championship.

Buckeyes move up in latest AP Poll

After scheduling and playing a home game against IUPUI on Tuesday to make up for two lost nonconference home games last month, the Buckeyes had a conference tilt with Nebraska postponed due to health and safety protocols.

So after playing just one game last week, the Buckeyes checked in at No. 16 in the latest AP Poll. They moved up three spots in the rankings, even after a win over one of the worst basketball teams in the country and the postponement.

Auburn jumped into the top spot for the first time in school history after another big week. Gonzaga, Arizona, Baylor and Kansas rounded out the top five. Five Big Ten teams are currently ranked as league play is in full swing for one of the top conferences in all of college basketball.

For Ohio State, Tuesday night’s nonconference game with IUPUI was all about getting back some of the live, game-action reps the Buckeyes lost in December. But then, they lost more without Saturday’s game against Nebraska.
