Jordan Hancock arrived at Ohio State this week.

Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Jordan Hancock arrives on campus at Ohio State

Ohio State had one of the worst secondaries in all of college football last season. But the Buckeyes are working to get better in the back end.

Another piece of that help has arrived on campus. Four-star cornerback Jordan Hancock, a top-50 player nationally, made his way to Columbus from Georgia this week to officially begin his collegiate career with the Buckeyes. He now immediately enters the mix at cornerback to help the Buckeyes round back into the Best In America form they are used to.

Hancock and fellow freshman star cornerback JK Johnson are now both in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center to begin working toward a role early in their college careers. Neither enrolled early. But they’ll have a chance to make a claim for playing time this fall alongside cornerbacks Sevyn Banks, Cameron Brown, Ryan Watts, Lejond Cavazos and others.

Of course, Hancock now has to get to work and prove he can play at a high level during his freshman season. That work is now underway. Jordan Hancock is officially on campus to begin his Ohio State career.

Lettermen Row’s Birm clarifies J.T. Tuimoloau recruitment

Ohio State is still waiting on the recruiting class of 2021 to wrap up. It’s about to come to an end. J.T. Tuimoloau, a five-star defensive end from Washington state, will visit the Buckeyes this month and make a decision shortly after his five official visits.

Are the Buckeyes still in the driver’s seat for Tuimoloau? Lettermen Row’s Birm has some clarity on the strange situation surrounding his recruitment in the latest edition of Talking Stuff, the recruiting podcast from Lettermen Row.

One of the day’s most important conversations was about 5-star 2021 defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau and Lettermen Row received some valuable clarity on his recruiting timeline and plans for summer enrollment. The official offers are on and the race for a decision — which now looks like it could come in July — is in full swing.

With a few weeks to go before the visit from Tuimoloau, the Ohio State staff is now focused on the hundreds of recruiting visitors making their way to Columbus in June. It’s going to be a chaotic month and that’s already underway with one important camp out of the way. The one-day evaluation saw five new Buckeyes offers go out and some intrigue added to the Ohio State 2022 defensive line recruiting efforts.
