COLUMBUS — The Buckeyes want as many Ohio State legacies in the program as they can get and they have indeed another. Three-star offensive lineman Mason Wilhlem has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.
What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.
Who is Mason Wilhelm?
Mason Wilhelm is a three-star offensive lineman from Lakewood, Ohio. He attended St. Edward High School. Wilhelm is also the son of former Ohio State All-American linebacker Matt Wilhelm. The Buckeyes evaluated the younger Wilhelm at several points throughout his recruitment but his offer did not come until November. At the time, Wilhelm was committed to North Carolina but he flipped to Ohio State as soon as offensive line coach Tyler Bowen told him that he had an offer.

Scouting Report: “The 6-foot-4, 290 pound Wilhelm flipped to Ohio State from North Carolina after being committed to the Tar Heels since the summer. The legacy prospect has the look of a future center for the Buckeyes and worked hard to improve his game to be a player the Buckeyes wanted. I’d bet on his work ethic and bloodlines helping him to contribute in Columbus.” – Rivals Midwest Analyst Greg Smith
