Oklahoma basketball has one open scholarship left, and we learned who could potentially be that final piece.

Former Rutgers guard Cam Spencer has the Sooners as one of his four finalists, per a report from Jeff Goodman on Monday night.

Joining OU is UCLA, Miami and UConn. Spencer, a graduate transfer, hit the portal earlier this month. Most expected Georgetown to be a top favorite. It was a surprise to many that the Hoyas weren’t even in the running.

Spencer averaged at least 10 points all four seasons with the Scarlet Knights. He averaged 13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and two steals per game last season. Spencer shot 43.4 percent from 3-point territory in 2022-23 and was a 40 percent shooter from downtown during his time at Rutgers.

The recruiting dead period ended over the weekend, and it’s clear Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser has his eyes set to find those missing final pieces.

Adding Spencer would finalize the roster after OU quietly found former Georgia Tech power forward Jalon Moore. Moore was in town last weekend and announced his commitment to the Sooners on Tuesday morning.

Oklahoma transfer portal additions

*Guard Javian McCollum (6-foot-2, 155 pounds, Siena): McCollum was a Plan A target for the Sooners right from the start. He averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 assists and 2.1 rebounds as a sophomore. His pace of play stood out to Moser as OU needs to become a faster team going forward.

*Center John Hugley (6-9, 265, Pittsburgh): The biggest priority for Moser was with the bigs. OU needed to knock it out the park at power forward and center. At least one of those is checked off with Hugley. A knee injury limited him in 2022-23, but he averaged just under 15 points and eight rebounds two years ago.

*Guard Rivaldo Soares (6-6, 205, Oregon): OU needs some experience, some seniors, and Soares helps in that department. He’ll be using his final year of eligibility in Norman and had a built-in connection with new OU assistant Armon Gates, who coached at Oregon last season.

*Guard Le’Tre Darthard (6-4, 180, Utah Valley): Darthard can score (13.8 points). He can pass (3.8 assists). And he can defend (1.2 steals). He’s a Porter Moser guy. Originally from Denton (Texas) Guyer, OU is bringing him closer to home and hoping to make his last year his best year.

*Forward Jalon Moore (6-7, 209, Georgia Tech): OU had been looking for a power forward, and Moore is going to be the answer. He’ll have a couple of seasons to play at OU and averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season. He’s also a very versatile defender.
