OU blitzes Wake Forest in second half, earns road victory
It didn’t feel like OU was ever going to get into a rhythm in the first half. Fouls, turnovers – definition of a slog.
But once the Sooners did? That was the most impressive 20 minutes of the season for Porter Moser and company.
OU took a two-point halftime advantage and went nuts in the second half to earn a big-time 86-68 road victory at Wake Forest on Tuesday night.
A perfect blend of OU finding its offense and bringing the defense. Both teams were absolutely battling foul trouble the entire first half. However, OU was able to keep fighting through it before taking off in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Once again, it was a little bit from a lot of people. OU has not had to have a pure go-to guy emerge just yet. But it’s working.
Six, count them, six players scored in double-digits for the Sooners. Everybody just sort of taking their turn for when they needed to make their mark.
Tae Davis (18), Derrion Reid (18), Nijel Pack (13) and then 11 points apiece from Xzayvier Brown, Mo Wague and Jadon Jones.

OU shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and dominated Wake Forest on the glass. That sounds like a first for the Sooners. That’s something to really build on.
OU news/notes
*Circle that second half stretch from Jadon Jones. He bailed out OU with a 3-pointer as the shot clock was expiring. Then made three free throws before draining another 3-pointer. That’s what OU has been missing. That’s what Jones should be bringing to the table.
*A strong bounce back outing from Xzayvier Brown. After not scoring Friday, he did a little of everything against the Demon Deacons.
He finished with 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
*Wague added 14 rebounds. It marked his second double-double of the season.
Up next
This stretch continues. Now 2-0 in this four-game deal. And still away from Norman. OU (6-2) heads to Phoenix this weekend to take on Arizona State in another ‘neutral’ site game Saturday night on CBS Sports Network.
