SoonerScoop podcast: Week 2 OU spring practice impressions

Bob Przybyloby: Bob Przybylo04/02/26BPrzybylo

We asked for media access, and OU head coach Brent Venables obliged. And went overboard, ha. We have had plenty of chances to check out OU practices to begin the spring.

With each viewing session, learning a little bit more. Maybe taking notice of a different player each time around. Seeing who is developing.

And, of course, since it is spring, it is all about the injuries. Some do not feel anywhere near close to being serious, but it remains something to monitor.

Let’s break it all down. It’s that time again. Time for the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.

Oh, and what about that decommitment Wednesday morning? Let’s go ahead and break that down as well.

Murdock summary

We’ve had three viewings and several rounds of interviews two weeks into spring football practices. Carey, Josh, Eddie and George get together to talk about the things that are standing out to them most through the second week. And there are zero April Fools shenanigans involved in this one. The defense looks good at a lot of positions. George does have concerns about one. The offense is different, and it’s clear there is a mantra with the offense this spring.

What about the running back room? The tight end room? The QB room? Is Bowe Bentley going to have a backup role by the time the season gets here? We talk a little bit about the shape of the SEC and college football in general. What teams could we see falling apart in 2026? Why is Vegas so down on the Sooners with win totals and point spreads? We wrap up the women’s hoops season with George because OU’s men start the Crown tonight. Some diamond talk and even though we did a big Recruiting Report today, we get Josh’s thoughts on the decommitment of Micah Rhodes. It is a long one folks! Enjoy!
