LISTEN: John Bol’s Ole Miss commitment, in football terms + Noreel White de-commits from Arkansas
In this edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 break down, from all angles, the commitment of four-star 2024 center John Bol to Rebel basketball.
In football terms, Chris Beard and Co. just landed Laremy Tunsil. Or Laquon Treadwell. AJ Brown. Take your pick.
Plus, the guys have thoughts on four-star in-state wide receiver Noreel White’s de-commitment from Arkansas following a weekend visit to Ole Miss for Juice Fest. The Rebels also landed Miami (Fla.) transfer defensive back Chris Graves.
Here’s a brief excerpt from the extended conversation.
BEN: Put the commitment of John Bol in football terms. This is like Ole Miss getting who?
ZACH: It’s Laremy Tunsil. It’s Robert Nkemdiche, Shea Patterson (or) AJ Brown. D.K. Metcalf. This guy’s a certified stud.

BEN: Potential NBA Draft lottery pick.
ZACH: The Overtime Elite doesn’t let bums come play there.
BEN: They’re not called Overtime Mid.
ZACH: It’s very obvious how good he is. You don’t even have to be an evaluator of talent or a scout or work in an NBA office. Your turn on the tape and it’s unreal. I can’t emphasize how big of a deal this is.
We’ve given John his flowers, and Jason Jackson is on campus right now. People need to be excited about that guy. He’s a special, special athlete that plays at Overtime Elite (with Bol). He reclassified to go and play against better competition and prepare his body for college and he wants to play for Chris Beard and Ole Miss.
When could you have ever said (before) that Ole Miss has two Overtime Elite guys that want to come play for them? Not got to Overtime Elite and think about it. Not go to Overtime Elite and test the NBA waters first like Scoot Henderson and the rest of those guys. They want to go there and then they want to come play for Chris Beard.
It’s remarkable, the turnaround. And we shouldn’t be surprised, because Chris Beard has proven it.
