Oregon is dealing with injuries to a handful of key players following Saturday’s 41-20 win over BYU in Eugene.

The Ducks cruised to victory over the Cougars in Week 3 despite playing without veteran offensive lineman Steven Jones. After starting the first two games of the season, Jones did not practice last week. He was seen wearing a boot on his right foot before kick-off on Saturday and did not go through warmups.

“Hopefully we can get him back,” Lanning said when asked about Jones’ status. “I don’t have a direct timeline on that right now.”

Jones, who started at left tackle for the Ducks for much of last season, was the starting right guard during Oregon’s Week 1 loss to Georiga and Week 2 win over Eastern Washington.

In his absence, Marcus Harper II got the start at right guard.

Jones was not the only significant contributor who was on the shelf last weekend. Sophomore running back Byron Cardwell went through warmups and was in uniform but did not play. Ditto for redshirt freshman linebacker Justin Flowe.

“They were both able to practice today,” Lanning said of Cardwell and Flowe. “I wouldn’t sit here and say they’re 100% yet. But I’m hopeful that both of them will be able to help us this weekend.”

With Cardwell sidelined, the Oregon running attack was still plenty effective against BYU. Bucky Irving led the Ducks with 107 rushing yards and they finished with 247 total yards on the ground.

At linebacker, Jackson LaDuke got the start in place of Flowe. LaDuke played 31 snaps and finished with four total tackles.
