One of the positions in question for 2024 is linebacker, where Oregon has had considerable attrition of late due to NFL declarations, graduations and transfers out. But the Ducks might not have to fly far afield to find part of the answer.

One of the visitors who was on campus last weekend is 4-star Brayden Platt of Yelm High in Washington state. The On3 Consensus lists the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder as the nation’s No. 23 junior backer.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Oregon as the overwhelming favorite for the top-250 prospect. The versatile athlete recently updated ScoopDuck on his college search.

“I’m going to Oregon this weekend and then UW the 28th,” he said.

Platt shared his opinion of the Ducks both before and after his trip to Eugene.

“My thoughts on Oregon are very good,” he said last week. “I’m liking them quite a bit.

“I love the staff. (Tosh) Lupoi and (Dan) Lanning and them trying to bring the competitive culture to the West Coast.

“I’m most looking forward to seeing the coaches and their thoughts on their season.”

And what was his first impression after completing his second unofficial visit to Eugene?

“The visit was really good; I had a great time,” he said. “My favorite part was probably getting to know the coach and it was really good talking to them.

Before he heads off to college, Platt has some lofty goals for his senior year.

“I’m glad with how my (junior) season went,” he said, “but I wanted to do better for myself and the team. I am happy with the results.

“I know I will do better next year. I will strive to do everything I can to make the team better and myself better so we can win a championship.

“Another goal is to win the division. I know we can do it if we put the hard work in and I stay focused, watching film, lifting weights, and building up the younger guys on the team.“
