College baseball season is just around the corner, and the Oregon Ducks once again have hopes of contending for a Pac-12 title.

After finishing fourth in the conference last season and reaching the Lousiville Regional, Mark Wasikowski’s Ducks are projected to finish in the middle of the pack in 2023.

The Pac-12 released its preseason coaches poll and preseason all-conference team on Wednesday, and Oregon was well-represented. The Ducks landed at No. 5 in the coach’s poll and did not receive a first-place vote.

Stanford, which went 21-9 in Pac-12 play to win the conference last season, was picked to finish first and received nine first-place votes. UCLA, which was picked to finish second, is the only other team that garnered a first-place vote.

Oregon went 18-12 in conference play last season and boasted one of the more prolific lineups in the conference. But the Ducks’ pitching rotation was hindered by injuries and proved to be the program’s Achilles Heel during the stretch run of the season.

Oregon returns a plethora of talented players, and four Ducks landed on the preseason all-conference team.

  • INF Drew Cowley
  • RHP Logan Mercado
  • C Josiah Cromwich
  • OF Tanner Smith

The Ducks will open the season on Friday, Feb. 16 when it kicks off a four-game series with Xavier in Eugene. First pitch at PK Park is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. PT, with a Saturday doubleheader to follow.
