For the final 30 minutes of Oregon’s 47-32 loss to Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, fans got a wonderful glimpse into the future. It’s a future filled with big, tall, fast, and ridiculously talented wide receivers running all over the city of San Antonio.

Outside of that, not much else went well for the Ducks. Oregon fielded a glorified scout team on defense, the unit decimated by injuries, opt-outs, and COVID-protocols.

Anthony Brown, in his final game as the Ducks’ quarterback, was superb. He passed for 306 yards and three touchdowns, all of them to a trio of youngsters poised to take the Ducks to new levels. Kris Hutson (6 catches, 55 yards, one TD), Troy Franklin (4 catches, 65 yards, one TD), and Dont’e Thornton (4 catches, 90 yards, one TD) showed why the Ducks are in good shape heading into 2022 offensively.

Oregon (10-4) ended the season losing three of their final four, but it hardly matters now. In 11 short days, the entire new staff will be in town, ushering in a new and exciting era of Ducks football.
