ScoopDuck Predictions: Oregon vs Eastern Washington Score

A new week brings in a much different opponent for Oregon. The Ducks go from a national championship contender to an FCS opponent in Eastern Washington. That’s quite a swing in competition.

Oregon has a lot of work to do. Fans and coaches are still looking for answers coming off a bad loss to Georgia. And I think many are hoping to get a few of them this Saturday with a win over Eastern Washington.

Here are the ScoopDuck score predictions for Saturday’s game in Eugene.

Joel Gunderson: Oregon 45, EWU 24

Ask anyone who watches a game with me live, and they’ll tell you I’m a doom-and-gloom guy. So it’s new territory for me coming out of this past Saturday, after that beat down, to feel this way.

But…

I’m very optimistic. Even if the only thing that changes is not playing a juggernaut like Georgia, Oregon will look twice as good. Now factor in better execution, and you’re looking at a good team. Oregon is still learning BOTH the offense and defense; Georgia is in the same system for seven years. But our offensive line looked good against a ferocious Georgia line, the running backs were solid, and you saw the talent Bo brings (just stop the costly mistakes).

And the defense flew around. They were outmatched, and often out of place, but that comes with reps and tape.

I think this week looks a lot better — still not a “Wow!” performance, but much better. And that will give them validation to keep pushing.

Jarrid Denney: Oregon 42, EWU 13

Oregon’s Week 1 performance was abysmal. There’s no getting around that. But the Ducks won’t be the last team that Georgia steamrolls this season, and there is still a ton of talent on this Oregon roster. That will shine through in Saturday’s home opener.

The offense was able to move the ball well at times against the Bulldogs, and it will look much better against a defense that isn’t filled with blue-chip talent. The defense will undoubtedly be motivated to turn in a good performance. Look for the Ducks to click on both sides of the ball and bounce back on Saturday.

Corpatty: Oregon 49, Eastern Washington 21

Oregon comes out knowing they have something to prove in this game and gets off to a fast start.  The offense scores three times in the first quarter setting the tone early.   Overall it is a very balanced offensive performance for Oregon with a number of different players making big plays for the Ducks.  Defensively Oregon still struggles somewhat but is finally able to get a few stops and allow the offense to put the game away in the 3rd quarter.

Travis Rooke-Ley: Oregon 45, Eastern Washington 21

I think this game will start a bit shaky as the Ducks get their footing after last week’s whooping. Probably something like 14-10 in the 2nd quarter but I think the Ducks pull away in the middle of the 3rd quarter before allowing a late TD with the subs in. I think our offensive finishes drives and the defense will force a few turnovers in the middle of the game that put the game away in win #1 of the Lanning era.

Jhop: Oregon 52, Eastern Washington 31

I recognize Oregon fans won’t be happy if EWU puts up 31 on the Ducks this weekend. I won’t pretend I’m going to defend it if they do. And EWU is no Georgia, but the defense struggled really badly in week one and I’m not sure there is a one-week fix for what we saw.

I think Oregon wins. I think we’ll still have some questions. I think we’ll have some concerns with BYU coming to town. But for now all we can really ask for is a win and some signs of improvement.
