Asked about being connected to open Penn State job, BYU's Kalani Sitake says: 'We're going to avoid all of the distractions'

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake all but declined to comment on Monday when asked by reporters on a Big 12 Championship game preview ZOOM about a FootballScoop report from earlier in the day that connects him to the open job at Penn State.

“I’m all about the Big 12 championship and keeping our team focused on that. We’re going to avoid all of the distractions,” Sitake said Monday, per The Salt Lake Tribune.

Sitake is a BYU alum. He played fullback at the school, and is the first FBS head coach of Tongan descent, according to BYU. The Cougars take on Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game on Saturday at Noon. ABC will televise the game. BYU is a 13.5-point underdog. Texas Tech already beat Sitake’s team 29-7 this season.
