Today they discuss the current NIL situation at Penn State, which teams will be a bad matchup next fall, and how the offensive staff should handle the upcoming quarterback competition in 2023.

Quick Penn State Hoops update

However, to start the show, Bauer gives an update about Penn State hoops and what high-level prospect they hosted for a visit this week. Bauer gives a brief profile of 2023 prospect Carey Booth, son of former Penn State forward Calvin Booth. After that, he stays with basketball, previewing the annual Coaches vs. Cancer golf tournament in State College this weekend.

Scouting Will Levis at Kentucky to see if Penn State made a mistake

Hearing the name Will Levis bandied about as a possible first-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft isn’t a big deal for most college football fans. He’s the latest in a long line of unknown quarterbacks to make a giant leap at some point late in his career. Either he will work out, or he won’t. Yet, the news that their former three-star prospect and quasi-fullback could potentially be a top pick hits Penn State fans differently. There’s probably frustration, disbelief, and maybe a little fear processing the information. So last week, I set out to scout Levis to find out the truth. We started by looking at his Penn State film to give the added context to the decision at the end of the 2020 season to stick with starter Sean Clifford.

Here’s a summary of what we found.

-Levis wasn’t as raw of a prospect from a fundamental throwing aspect as I initially thought, but he still had a lot of work to do on his footwork

– He was erratic and inaccurate, especially on deep balls early in his career

– He was fearless and even stubborn in the pocket

– He would put the ball wherever he wanted, good or bad.

– Ultimately, he and Clifford produced at the same level and were similarly flawed in 2020.
