The 2025 Penn State football schedule is now out. The Nittany Lions, who are the sixth-seed in this year’s College Football Playoff and will host No. 11 SMU in a first round matchup on Dec. 21, learned their slate for next year during a live show on the Big Ten Network Wednesday afternoon. Head coach James Franklin’s program previously knew when its non-conference foes would be and also which conference teams it would face both at home and on the road. Now, it also knows when those games will be in addition to when its bye weeks are.

Game start times were not disclosed Wednesday and will likely not be until the spring of 2025 at the earliest.

Penn State will open the 2025 season opposite Nevada on Aug. 30. Big Ten play begins on Sept. 27 when Oregon, who just beat the Lions in the 2024 Big Ten title game, makes its first trip to State College since 1964. Senior Day will be held in Week 13 when Nebraska visits Beaver Stadium on Nov. 22. The Lions will be off on two Saturdays, as their byes are Week 4 (Sept. 20) before Oregon and Week 9 (Oct. 25) before OSU and after a trip to Iowa.
