Penn State Class of 2023 commit Jven Williams is now the nation’s No. 11 player, according to On3.

Williams was awarded a fifth star by On3 last week. Now, the On300 has been updated. Besides ranking inside the top-15 nationally, the senior-to-be from Reading, Pa., Wyomissing High is also the number one interior lineman in the new On300.

“We’ve been high on Jven Williams since the fall, but he continues to ascend as a prospect in our eyes,” On3 director of scouting Charles Power told BWI last week. “Williams oozes upside. He’s an easy, natural mover on his junior video and is outstanding at the second level. He also has top notch length and play strength. He backs up the explosive athleticism and strength with some very impressive numbers in the shot put.

“Add in the fact that he’s still developing and won’t turn 17 until late August and we’re talking about a prospect with a very high ceiling.”

Williams is now the second-highest rated Penn State commit all-time in the On300. Last cycle, the Lions signed quarterback Drew Allar, who finished at No. 7. Defensive end Davon Townley was the first future Penn State player ranked by the On300. He was No. 79 overall in the Class of 2021.

At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, Miller has excelled in both football and track and field. He is explosive in both sports and has a frame that can continue adding size.

“I think he could be an absolute, total dominant force as a guard,” Dane Miller, who trains Williams at Garage Strength, said.

“He moves well in space. That’s one of the big benefits behind it. If you’re running zone offense and you have somebody like him who can actually move, that’s a pretty big asset to the offensive scheme.”

Penn State commit Jven Williams’ scouting summary

Power writes:

“Rapidly ascending offensive lineman who oozes long-term upside. Flashes high-end traits as a run blocker. An easy, athletic mover at the second level, where he excels as a puller. Has potentially elite play strength coupled with the athletic ability. Shows budding technical proficiency with his hand placement and understanding of run schemes. Has the length and feet to play tackle but will need to continue honing his pass set technique at the next level after playing in a run-heavy offense in high school. Validates his athleticism and explosive power as a top thrower in both the shot put and discus. Had a personal best shot put toss of over 57 feet as a sophomore in addition to winning the state title in the discus. Much younger than most of his peers in the 2023 cycle. And he will not turn 18 until late August of his freshman year of college.”
