It’s officially mock draft season for Penn State football’s draft prospects.

Jaquan Brisker appears to be one of the more polarizing Nittany Lions hitting the draft boards this year. You won’t find Brisker on every expert’s mock draft, but there are plenty who are high on the Penn State safety’s pro prospects.

Brisker totaled 63 tackles in 2021, adding two interceptions and seven pass breakups in 12 games.

Here’s where some experts are projecting him in the 2022 NFL Draft.

CBS Sports: 29th overall, Kansas City Chiefs

Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports slates Brisker to go in the back end of the first round to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Among the worst defenses in the NFL at the start of the season, the Chiefs turned that around in the second half of the year. Starting safety Tyrann Mathieu will see his contract expire at the end of the season. Trapasso speculates that Mathieu will re-sign with Kansas City, but, even if he does, the Chiefs could still move for some youth at the position.

Brisker represents a “safe” option for Kansas City, Trapasso wrote. Brisker, who played three years at Penn State and another two seasons at Lackawanna College, is among the most experienced defensive backs in the draft.

Pro Football Network: 30th overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Pro Football Network’s Cam Mellor projects Brisker to go late in the first round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The defending champions are looking for a repeat, having achieved a sparkling 13-4 record in the regular season despite some difficulties in pass defense. The Bucs allowed 4,062 passing yards in 2021 — 12th most in the NFL. That could influence them to pick Brisker, who Penn State fans know will help in that regard.

Mellor likes Brisker’s durability, pointing out that Tampa struggled with injuries to its secondary this season. he also noted that Brisker has “great coverage ability and even better range.”

For The Win/USA Today: 28th overall, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys drafted the likely NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year from Penn State this season in Micah Parsons. Why not go back for more?

Charles McDonald has Brisker as his second safety off the draft board, following only Kyle Hamilton of Notre Dame.

McDonald speculated that Brisker could become an instant starter for the Cowboys at the free safety position in 2022.

Cleveland.com: 21st overall, New England Patriots

Tim Bielik is among the draft analysts who are highest on Brisker’s prospects. He has him going in the middle of the first round, 21st overall to the New England Patriots.

Bielik reasons that Brisker could be New England’s long-term replacement for Devin McCourty, who is now 34 years old as the Patriots prepare for their playoff run.

Bielik noted that he views Brisker as an intelligent safety, something that certainly aligns with what Brisker’s teammates and coaches say about him. He’s also versatile, Bielik writes, allowing him to fit various schemes at the NFL level.
