Speca’s journey to Penn State

Fitz and T-Frank pick up where Blue White Illustrated left off from Monday’s recruiting show when Speca was the spotlight recruit for the show. Fitz discusses the timeline of how Penn State and Michigan fought for Speca’s services and how the Nittany Lions pulled ahead in his recruitment. This weekend, Speca called the Lions his team to beat in recruiting after his junior day visit.

“I’d say Penn State is the favorite now,” Speca said. “I think the stability and the comfortability I feel there is just different. It feels like I’m at home. I’m familiar with the area. The entire time I was there, I felt super comfortable. It was just really cool,” Speca said to recruiting insider Ryan Snyder.

Speca is the second player in the Penn State class of 2024, joining four-star offensive lineman from Erie, Cooper Cousins in the class. Speca is a three-star linebacker, according to On3, but the composite industry rating is higher on the 6-2 215-pound defender. However, he’s a four-star in the On3 composite ranking and is the 287th player in the country.

A key figure in Speca’s recruitment is former Penn State linebacker, Dan Conner. Check out the video to learn how Conner struck up a friendship with Speca that helped the Pittsburgh native choose Happy Valley over other schools.
