Penn State long snapper Tyler Duzansky is a finalist for the Mannelly Award

Penn State long snapper Tyler Duzansky is a finalist for the Mannelly Award. That headlines today’s newsstand.

Duzansky is the second Nittany Lion to be among the final three players for the award since 2022, when Chris Stoll won it. Georgia’s Beau Gardner and North Carolina’s Spencer Triplett are the other finalists. The winner will be announced on Dec. 13 in Lake Bluff, Ill.

“That’s your Heisman,” Duzansky said of the award in August. “Basically, the Heisman for the long snapper, But looking back my freshman, sophomore year, Jordan Stout, best partner in the country, then Chris Stoll, best long snapper in the country. You just want to keep like, leading that legacy, I guess you could say , n the specialist position. And every year, you’re just trying to get better and hope that you can lead like those guys did, and keep it going.”

Per Penn State: “The Patrick Mannelly Award, created in 2019, benefits Bernie’s Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff. The award is named after Patrick Mannelly, a long snapper at Duke, who played 16 years in the NFL (1998-2013) with the Chicago Bears.”

“He’s the future of the position for us. He’s taking great strides and getting better. He works his tail off during the week. And, you see his production. He’s very efficient in his throws. He runs our offense. That’s what a great quarterback does. When you look at Super Bowl champions or championship-caliber quarterbacks, they do what’s necessary for victory, and that’s what he’s done for us.
