Penn State tweets of the day

We start with another big win for the Penn State men’s hockey program. The Lions have knocked off the top-ranked country for a second consecutive weekend. After knocking Michigan out of college hockey’s top spot with a win over the Wolverines last weekend, the Lions went to Minnesota, who is No. 1 for now, and scored a 4-2 win Thursday night. Connor MacEachern scored twice, including what counted as the game-winner, as head coach Guy Gadowsky’s team improved to 10-1-0. The No. 7 Nittany Lions finished their series with the Golden Gophers tonight.

In other news, the Penn State men’s basketball team improved to 2-0 Thursday night with a 90-65 blowout win over Loyola. Eleven different Lions scored and head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s team shot 57.9 percent from the field and made 16 three point attempts.

Finally, it’s match day for Penn State wrestling. The top-ranked Nittany Lions open their 2022-2023 season tonight against Lock Haven. Five All-Americans return, including four national champions. The action begins at 7 p.m. inside of Rec Hall. It will be streaming on B1G+.

Quote of the day

“There just comes a point of the season. Whether it’s just overuse, there’s obviously the physicality in football; we’ve had a decent amount of surgeries and things like that. So you’re just trying to adjust it. Then, you got some guys that are sixth-year players and fifth-year players who you’re starting, you’re trying to factor that in as well. Here’s somebody that we may be able to limit their reps in practice right now because they’ve played a ton of football at Penn State. So that factors into it as well.

“But then, you got to be careful because other positions need their development, and it’s hard to do it when you’re limiting other positions.”
