A new feature is coming to the home of Penn State football this fall. The ‘Beaver Stadium Tunnel Club‘ will open in 2023, though its unclear if it will be ready for when the Lions host West Virginia in their home opener on Sept 2. It is billed as a “new, exclusive space,” according to a marketing release, which also adds that the tunnel club “will be located in the iconic south tunnel and features two members-only spaces.”

Perks for Tunnel Club members include, according to a marketing release:

  • Open bar
  • Complimentary food and snacks
  • Private restrooms
  • Exclusive, password protected Wi-Fi network
  • Spectacular views of the team taking the field each game
  • Special access each home football game weekend

Besides the seven home football games this year, the Tunnel Club will be open on five additional to-be-determined dates per year.

Here’s what it will cost, according to the marketing release:

“Tunnel Club members will be allowed a total of four (4) passes per event. Members will also be able to rent the club throughout the year for private events and parties. This exclusive membership is $10,000 annually, and a limited number of memberships will be available. This annual membership fee is non-charitable and does NOT count towards any ticket or parking purchase/contribution.”

Penn State will soon start work on other parts of Beaver Stadium, too

The Tunnel Club is not the only new amenity that will come to Beaver Stadium over the course of the next few years. A $70 million plan for the first stage of renovations for the 63-year-old 107,000-seat venue was approved earlier this month. The work will include upgrades to the stadium’s west side, among other areas.

“Beaver Stadium is more than just a football stadium,” Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft told BWI.

“I think it’s such an important part of the community, what it means to everybody when you come in from the airport to see it. I just think as many people as we can get in that building, we’re gonna get them in there, no matter how we do it.”

The Tunnel Club’s additional dates beyond each year’s home games are one way to do exactly that. But, other events will likely fill the stadium stands in the years ahead, as well.

“I don’t think we need a new stadium,” Kraft said. “I think preserving Beaver Stadium was a really important part of it. Just because it means so much.”
