Penn State wrestling weekend viewing guide: Former Lions in action, future foes at National Duals, and more

The Penn State wrestling season starts this week. The Nittany Lions welcome Oklahoma to the Bryce Jordan Center for a non-conference dual meet at 6 p.m. ET Friday. 14. BTN will televise the contest. While fans of Cael Sanderson’s program will surely be focused on his team’s first match of the year, there are plenty of other matches and events to follow this weekend. We have the information you need to do so below.
Penn State opponent tracker: Weekend of Nov. 14-16
Numerous future Penn State opponents are at the National Duals Invitational Saturday-Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. The Lions decided not to attend the event, which has a total purse of $1 million, even though they were invited. Speaking this week, Cael Sanderson cited the timing of it (early in the season and coming off of U23 Worlds) as well as a general disinterest in going as the reasons why.
“We’re always going to do what’s in the best interests of our kids and our team, and that’s my job and that’s what we’re going to do and that’s what we did,” Sanderson said. “Create big events, that’s cool, but I think they knew right away when they were putting it when and where they were putting it, we’re probably not [going to participate] because we’re pretty consistent. We haven’t really changed a whole lot in that regard.”
