It was a jam-packed weekend for Penn State recruiting and host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, recaps all of it on the show. He gets into the good and bad news before looking ahead to the rest of the summer with his preview.

Penn State loses quality prospect in Class of 2023

T-Frank starts with breaking news this afternoon that three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller de-committed from the program and flipped his commitment to Georgia. T-Frank breaks down what happened and gives his opinion on what might have enticed Miller from a positional and schematic standpoint.

More on Miller

Next, he gives an overview of the good news. Rising three-star prospect Yazeed Haynes committed to Penn State Sunday night. So, T-Frank gives a quick scouting report of the uber-fast wide receiver. He also gets into some of the ways that Haynes mitigates the loss of four-star target Rodney Gallagher.

From there, he transitions into the show’s main topic, looking ahead to the rest of the uncommitted players in the Class of 2023. He picks out three offensive players and six defenders that he thinks are must-gets for Penn State. Of course, the Nittany Lions don’t need to get all of them, but they represent positions or skill sets that Penn State needs to fill out its class. He starts with the offense and then transitions to the defense to finish the show.

Yazeed Haynes opens up about Penn State official visit & decision

Penn State picked up another commitment in its Class of 2023 Sunday in athlete Yazeed Haynes. Nittany Lion fans should be familiar with the name. Last week, Haynes put on a show at the annual Whiteout Camp, running a 4.39-second 40-yard dash. Add in a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump and a 4.2-second shuttle and Haynes has everything a big-time Division I football program is looking for, especially at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds.

Because of that, James Franklin and his assistant coaches wasted little time in getting Haynes back on campus, hosting he and his family for an official visit this past weekend. The plan was to see a few more schools and then decide in July. That’s no longer the case.

“I came back for my visit, of course, and it just felt like home there,” Haynes said. “Everyone was just so family-oriented. I loved the coaches, the players and everything about the school. Even when I was younger, Penn State was always a school I wanted to go to. So, coming up here was just the icing on the cake. I liked everything about it.”
