The new era of college football begins — What it means for Penn State: BWI Live

The new era of college sports is here. Penn State football, along with the rest of the sport, finally got a resolution on the future of the sport this past weekend when the NCAA v. House settlement finally passed. On today’s BWI Live Show, we’ll discuss the latest news on revenue sharing, Penn State’s deal, or lack thereof, with private capital, plus the latest Penn State football and recruiting news.

Penn State News update
There was plenty of news that dropped after our final show on Thursday of last week. Today, we’ll cover the biggest Penn State football news that’s happened since then. Firstly, we’ll discuss the report that Penn State and UCLA were the first two athletic departments to partner with Elevate’s College Investment Initiative through private equity.
However, Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft quickly released a statement denying those reports, as did UCLA’s athletic department. We’ll discuss the situation to start the show.
Next, we’ll dig into the news that redshirt freshman Max Granville suffered a long-term injury after spring practice. Reporters Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer will discuss the impact on the defensive end position and where that leaves Penn State’s pass-rushing unit.
NCAA Settlement ushers in new era of college football
Next, the college sports world learned over the weekend that Judge Claudia Wilkins signed off on the House v. NCAA settlement agreement. The agreement sets into motion a new framework for college sports, allowing programs to directly pay athletes.

Does this mean the end of NIL? What does this mean for walk-on players? We’ll discuss the most pressing questions for fans during the show.
Fitz’s recruiting update and Between the Lines
Finally, we’ll end the show by getting into some real football topics. Penn State hosted a massive contingent of offensive and defensive line prospects this weekend, including some of the top remaining players in the Class of 2026. How did the team do in convincing those players that Penn State is the place to be? Fitz will discuss the reaction to the weekend, plus share his thoughts about what he saw at the team’s various prospect camps on Friday and Sunday.
Lastly, we’ll rewind the clock to last Thursday at noon when Penn State head coach James Franklin sat down (literally) with the media to discuss the state of the team in June. We’ll review three of his comments during our series Between the Lines.
