Purdue has added another piece to its offensive line with a commitment from junior college tackle Issiah Walker.

Walker came to campus for an official visit Sunday through Monday. Before heading back to Butler County Community College in Kansas, Walker committed to the Boilermakers.

“My parents love Purdue,” said Walker. “I weighed my options of other schools, and I chose Purdue. I love Coach (Matt) Mattox and my parents did, too. I love Coach (Ryan) Walters and the whole staff. It felt like it was the best decision to make.”

Walker will sign a letter-of-intent on February 1. He still needs to graduate from Butler C.C. in May and should arrive at Purdue in June. The class of 2020 product will have as many as three seasons of eligibility.

Walker tabbed Purdue over Marshall, Western Kentucky and South Florida. And Syracuse also was slated to visit him at Butler this week. But, that’s off. The 6-5, 309-pound Walker is a Boilermaker.

Walker was a four-star prospect coming out of Norland High in Miami as part of the Class of 2020, being committed to South Carolina for most of his prep career. But Walker had a change of heart and signed with Florida, enrolling in Gainesville in January 2020.

But Walker wasn’t a Gator for long, transferring to Miami (Fla.) in May 2020. He had to sit out the 2020 season because of transfer rules and redshirted in 2021. He ended up not playing a down for the Gators or Hurricanes.

Purdue already has bolstered its offensive line this offseason with a commitment from the transfer portal from Bowling Green guard/center Jalen Grant.
