Gamecocks in the NFL: Week 9 recap

Week 9 in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday night as former South Carolina Gamecock Jadeveon Clowney and the Dallas Cowboys took on the Arizona Cardinals.

As the trade deadline approaches, here’s a look at how every former Gamecock performed in Week 9.

AFC West

Kyle Kennard – EDGE/outside linebacker, Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers placed Kennard on their Week 9 inactive list against the Titans.

Tonka Hemingway – Defensive tackle, Las Vegas Raiders

Hemingway was inactive for the Raiders in Week 9.

Nate Adkins – Tight end, Denver Broncos

Adkins missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury.

Nick Gargiulo – Guard, Denver Broncos

Gargiulo remains on the IR after tearing his ACL in the preseason.

Adam Prentice – Fullback, Denver Broncos

After a stat-less pair of weeks, Prentice got one carry for two yards for the Broncos on Sunday.

Zacch Pickens – Defensive end, Kansas City Chiefs

Pickens remains on the Chiefs’ practice squad. 

AFC East

TJ Sanders – Defensive tackle, Buffalo Bills

Sanders remains on the Bills’ IR in Week 9.

Alex Huntley – Defensive tackle, Miami Dolphins

Huntley remains on the Dolphins’ practice squad.

Marcellas Dial – Defensive back, New England Patriots

Dial is sidelined with a torn ACL and will not return in 2025.

AFC North

Raheim “Rocket” Sanders – Running back, Cleveland Browns

Sanders was a healthy scratch for the Browns in Week 9.

Demetrius Knight II – Linebacker, Cincinnati Bengals

Knight picked up six tackles after a season-high 12 in Week 8.

AFC South

Chris Lammons – Cornerback, Indianapolis Colts

Lammons struggled following a Week 8 performance that saw him record his first interception since 2019. The veteran safety did not record any stats this past weekend.

NFC South

Jovaughn Gwyn – Center, Atlanta Falcons

Gwyn did not feature in the Falcons’ Sunday game.

Joshua Simon – Tight end, Atlanta Falcons

Simon remains on the Falcons’ practice squad.

Jaycee Horn – Cornerback, Carolina Panthers

Horn added four tackles to his pass deflection on Sunday afternoon. The highest-paid corner in the NFL is on pace for an All-Pro season.

Xavier Legette – Wide receiver, Carolina Panthers

Leggette only caught one of his three targets on Sunday afternoon, going for 22 yards on one reception.

DJ Wonnum – Outside linebacker, Carolina Panthers

Wonnum only managed one tackle on Sunday against the Packers. He was an honorary captain for the Panthers in Week 9.

Rico Dowdle – Running back, Carolina Panthers

Dowdle led the Panthers in rushing with 150 yards on 25 carries and scored both touchdowns for the Panthers in a 16-13 victory.

Bam Martin-Scott – Inside linebacker, Carolina Panthers

Martin-Scott failed to record a stat in his 10 snaps played on Sunday.

Spencer Rattler – Quarterback, New Orleans Saints

The Saints revealed on Tuesday that they would go ahead and bench Spencer Rattler for Tyler Shough in Week 9. The former Gamecock did not play in the Saints’ 34-10 loss.

Torricelli Simpkins III – Guard/Center, New Orleans Saints

Simpkins III was a healthy scratch for the Saints on Sunday.

Kai Kroeger – Punter, New Orleans Saints

Kroeger was able to down two of his four punts inside the 20 in the loss to the Rams on Sunday.

NFC North

Keisean Nixon – Cornerback, Green Bay Packers

Nixon picked up five tackles in the loss to the Panthers. In what’s been a contested 2025 within the Packers DB room, Nixon graded out top five among Packers defenders per Pro Football Focus on Sunday.

Kingsley Enagbare – Defensive end, Green Bay Packers

Enagbare picked up three tackles against the Panthers on Sunday.

Vershon Lee – Guard/Center, Minnesota Vikings

Lee remains on the Vikings’ practice squad.

NFC East

Deebo Samuel – Wide receiver, Washington Commanders

Samuel caught four passes for 41 yards on Sunday. The veteran wideout is appearing in trade rumors despite only recently joining Washington.

Javon Kinlaw – Defensive tackle, Washington Commanders

Kinlaw struggled in the loss to Seattle, recording only one tackle.

Darius Rush – Defensive back, Washington Commanders

Rush remains a member of the Commanders’ practice squad.

Dante Miller – Running back, New York Giants

Miller remains on the Giants’ practice squad

Jalen Brooks – Wide receiver, Dallas Cowboys

Brooks remains on the Cowboys’ practice squad.

Jadeveon Clowney – Linebacker, Dallas Cowboys

Clowney had a season-high three solo tackles on Monday night and tied his season-high of five total tackles.

NFC West

Nick Emmanwori – Safety, Seattle Seahawks

Emmanwori picked up six tackles in the win over Washington on Sunday, including a big stop on fellow former Gamecock Deebo Samuel.

Ernest Jones IV – Inside linebacker, Seattle Seahawks

Jones left Sunday’s game early with a knee injury. He had six tackles before exiting.
