Upper Marlboro (Md.) Charles Herbert Flowers class of 2023 four-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu took an unofficial visit to South Carolina football three weeks ago and must have liked what he saw.

The 6-foot-6, 233-pound standout pass-rusher has set an official visit with the Gamecocks for the weekend of June 10.

Umeozulu, who is being recruited to South Carolina by outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas, has also set official visits to North Carolina (June 3), Pitt (June 16) and Ohio State (June 24).

Umeozulu talked about all four schools in this interview with On3’s Chad Simmons.

Umeozulu previously released a top nine of ClemsonGeorgiaMarylandNorth CarolinaPenn StatePittsburghOhio StateSouth Carolina and Texas.

“After my five official visits, I will make a decision based on my relationships with the head coach and position coach,” he told Blue-White Illustrated’s Ryan Snyder in April. “A great education is important too. I am in search of a program that will broadcast my talents and get me ready for the NFL as well.”

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – ranks Umeozulu as the No. 21 EDGE, No. 163 overall prospect and No. 4 state of Maryland prospect in the 2023 class.

The weekends of June 10 and June 24 have quickly become major recruiting events for the Gamecocks with multiple prospects setting official visits for those dates.

Gamecocks land in final five for priority LB target Grayson Howard

Priority South Carolina football target and four-star linebacker Grayson “Pup” Howard has released his final five schools and as expected the Gamecocks made the cut.

The Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Jackson class of 2023 standout announced Sunday a final group of  ClemsonFloridaGeorgiaSouth Carolina and Texas A&M.

“This journey has been nothing but a blessing. I think God everyday for giving me the opportunity to explore the world of college athletics! The best part of the process was building relationships, not only with coaches, but with staff, and recruits. I will cherish these relationships forever,” Howard said on social media. “I will be shutting down my recruitment as I will be focusing on these schools. Long live Donald Rocker Jr.”
