Beamer updates injury report after Arkansas game

South Carolina appears to be leaving Fayetteville battered and torn after a physical matchup with Arkansas.

According to Shane Beamer’s post-game injury update, Clayton White’s defense seems to have taken the biggest hit.

The Gamecocks lost three defensive starters in the game with Mo Kaba, Jordan Strachan and Cam Smith all leaving the game early. This comes after South Carolina traveled to Arkansas already down a starter after RJ Roderick’s injury last week against Georgia State.

Beamer said that things are “not good” for both Kaba and Strachan.

Kaba appeared to hurt his knee on a play in the first half where he almost sacked KJ Jefferson but missed and popped up gingerly. Kaba had four tackles before exiting the game.

ESPN sideline reporter Kris Budden said that Strachan left the game halfway through the third quarter with a knee injury and was seen crying with family members in the tunnel.

Before leaving the game Strachan recorded six total tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Beamer did say that Smith, who Budden said left before halftime and appeared to be struggling to walk into the locker room, should be “fine” going forward. Smith had five total tackles in the game.

David Spaulding was also hurt during the game today, Beamer said he has a leg bruise.

Boogie Huntley, Darius Rush and Brad Johnson also saw various amounts of time in the injury tent but Beamer did not provide an update on their status.

Huntley was shaken up early in the first quarter but after some time on the sideline, he was back in the game and finished with four tackles.

Rush went down on the same play as Kaba after a collision mid-air that caused him to intercept a pass from KJ Jefferson out of bounds. Budden said that the training staff was initially “worried” about a head injury with Rush but he did come back and finish the game with four tackles and two pass breakups.

Johnson went down briefly late in the game but finished with six tackles.
