Last season, South Carolina wore a number of uniform combinations, not repeating one until the 11th game of the year. The 2025 Gamecocks have repeated just once. On Saturday, as they do battle on the road against a top-10 Ole Miss squad, Shane Beamer’s team will don a combination they have not worn in over six seasons.

According to a Saturday afternoon post from the South Carolina football social media team, the Gamecocks will wear their black helmets against Mississippi. The black lids will come with black facemasks and the now-standard larger Block C decal.

A short time later, the social media team unveiled the entire gameday look.

South Carolina will wear black helmets, white jerseys, and black pants, a look dubbed “the Oreo” by some fans. It also represents a continuation from last week. The Gamecocks wore a recreation of a winning combination against Alabama. It didn’t work, though, as Carolina lost to the Crimson Tide after hoping for some uniform-based good luck.

The team has not worn black-white-black under head coach Shane Beamer. However, during Will Muschamp’s time in Columbia, USC wore the look in losses to Virginia in the 2018 Belk Bowl and to Missouri in 2019 and in wins over Ole Miss in 2018 and NC State in Charlotte in 2017. That gives Carolina a 2-2 overall record in the combination during the modern Under Armour era.

That 2018 victory over the Rebels was the last time that South Carolina took down Ole Miss. It was also the third victory in a three-game Gamecock winning streak in the series. That game was in Oxford, too, just like this year’s edition of the SEC matchup. On that day, Deebo Samuel returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and offensive players like Jake Bentley, Ty’Son Williams, and Bryan Edwards went off en route to a 48-44 victory.

Kickoff for the Ole Miss game will be at 7:00 p.m. (Eastern). ESPN will handle the broadcast, while the ESPN app will make the action available via streaming.

Both the Gamecocks and the Rebels have been inside the top 10 at some point this season. However, that feels like long ago for South Carolina, as USC hasn’t earned a spot in the rankings in over a month. Ole Miss has been ranked the entire season, and Lane Kiffin’s team now sits at No. 7 in the AP rankings and No. 8 in the coaches poll.

BetMGM lists Ole Miss as a 12.5-point favorite. Vaught Hemingway Stadium has been sold out for the SEC showdown.
