Decision day has arrived for priority South Carolina football target Greenville (S.C.) class of 2023 three-star interior offensive lineman Blake Franks.

Franks is set to announce his decision at 6:30 on Friday night during a ceremony at the Greenville High auditorium.

While the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder has not named true finalists, this has been believed for some time to be a Palmetto State battle between South Carolina and Clemson.

Gamecock Central is on hand for the announcement and will have live updates on The Insiders Forum, our premium fan community.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, and Penn State are also among Franks’ many scholarship offers.

Franks is the No. 36 IOL in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Additionally, he checks in as the No. 7 player in South Carolina and the No. 521 overall prospect in his class.

Offensive line recruiting at South Carolina has always been a team effort under Shane Beamer with Greg Adkins, Lonnie Teasley, and Sam Serbay all involved in the process.

That remains the case now with Teasley and Adkins essentially switching roles as Teasley was promoted to full-time offensive line coach.

“I love it,” Franks said of his relationship with Teasley. “He is a cool guy and I know he deserved the promotion. I’m happy for him.”

South Carolina is the current leader for Franks’ services according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), with a 95 percent chance to land him.

The On3 RPM utilizes machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends to predict where prospects may attend school in college.

The Gamecocks have already landed two of their top 2024 in-state targets in Franks’ teammate, four-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett, and Dorchester (S.C.) Woodland four-star offensive tackle Kam Pringle.

South Carolina is also considered the favorite for Dillon (S.C.) four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson, who will announce two weeks from today, and Florence (S.C.) West Florence four-star safety Kelvin Hunter.

The potential addition of Franks tonight would provide the chance for the Gamecocks to go 5-for-5 on in-state recruiting targets.

“I just have to feel comfortable with the school,” Franks said in January. “And be comfortable with their values.”
