Top South Carolina football 2024 recruiting target Mazeo Bennett has a decision date set.
The Greenville (S.C.) four-star wide receiver announced on Twitter Saturday that he’ll be announcing his college football home on Oct. 16.
The priority Gamecocks target also released his final eight which consists of South Carolina, Miami, North Carolina, Oregon, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia.
All eight of those schools have offered.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – ranks Bennett as the No. 16 “athlete,” No. 203 overall prospect and No. 3 state of South Carolina prospect in the 2024 class. He has a rating of 90.97, making him a four-star prospect.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder remains a huge target for receivers coach Justin Stepp and the Gamecocks, who were the first Power 5 offer for Bennett back in the fall.
“I feel it every time I call,” Bennett told Gamecock Central in the fall of the love he receives from the Gamecocks. “Every time I go down there, I always feel the love. It’s real. If they’ve got me at the top of their board for receivers for the class of 24, I could definitely feel it.”
Bennett was last in Columbia for the Gamecocks’ loss to Georgia after also taking in the season-opening win over Georgia State.
This past weekend, Bennett was at Tennessee — another place he’s visited multiple times — for the Vols’ win over Florida.
The 2024 On300 ranking ranks Bennett as the No. 189 prospect in the class.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $26k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
