South Carolina women's basketball: Gamecock signee Kaeli Wynn to miss senior season

South Carolina signee Kaeli Wynn will have knee surgery and miss her senior season. The announcement was made by Jody Wynn, Kaeli’s mother and coach.

Wynn initially suffered a dislocated right kneecap in a noncontact injury during a game in January. That caused her to miss the remainder of her junior season.

Wynn returned to the court a few months later, but aggravated the injury in a workout in April, and did not play over the summer. She was optimistic she would be able to play her senior season, but had not suited up for Mater Dei this season.

Last week, Jody announced Kaeli would undergo surgery this week.

According to the Orange County Register, Jody said that surgery is “unfortunately” Kaeli’s “only option to return to playing again.” She added that Kaeli will “sadly be out for her senior season.”

A 6-2 forward, Wynn is ranked 22nd by Rivals, 17th by ESPN, and 38th by 24/7. Wynn averaged 17 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists last season and was named honorable mention All-American by MaxPreps.

Wynn describes herself as a “do-it-all player,” and she is capable of playing multiple positions. Not surprisingly, with two coaches for parents, Wynn has an extremely high basketball IQ, and her versatility and decision-making on the court stand out.

Wynn’s announcement means both of South Carolina’s 2026 signees are now sidelined with knee injuries. Post Kelsi Andrews underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in October and remains sidelined.
