Top South Carolina QB target Landon Duckworth sets decision date

Announcement day is now set for South Carolina’s top quarterback target and Gamecock fans won’t have to wait too much longer.
Jackson (Ala.) class of 2026 four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth will announce his college decision on July 18, he posted on X/Twitter Thursday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is down to two finalists: South Carolina and Auburn.
Duckworth had a top four of the Gamecocks and Tigers plus Ole Miss and Florida State before narrowing his focus to those two.
He took official visits to both programs and then made return unofficial visits to each last month, with the plan always to likely decide in July.

If he commits to the Gamecocks, it will mean his recruitment has come full circle.
Duckworth was originally committed to South Carolina early in the process but decommitted last June after nearly a year on the commit list.
The dual-threat standout was committed to then-Gamecocks offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains but Mike Shula, who took over the role in December, has prioritized Duckworth and developed a strong relationship with him.
As a junior, Duckworth racked up 3,109 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions through the air. He also ran for 631 yards and 12 TDs in 14 games.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he is the nation’s No. 66 overall recruit and No. 6 quarterback prospect.
