South Carolina’s hosting resume is complicated right now, and that’s reflected in the latest round of postseason projections heading into the SEC Tournament.

One major national outlet has South Carolina hosting while another has the Gamecocks on the fringe but heading to another team’s ballpark for a regional.

Baseball America has South Carolina as the No. 13 overall seed hosting postseason baseball at Founders Park.

That regional is projected to host No. 2 seed Duke, No. 3 seed Oregon and fourth-seeded Grand Canyon.

It’s paired in this mock with No. 4 overall seed LSU, which is projected to include Southern Miss, NC State and Nicholls State.

D1Baseball, though, has South Carolina traveling to a regional in its own state.

The Gamecocks are projected here to go to Conway for the Coastal Carolina regional as the No. 2 seed.

That regional is projected to include the No. 10 overall seed Chanticleers and No. 4 seed UNC Wilmington. South Carolina’s first game in that regional would be against the NC State Wolfpack.

D1Baseball pairs that regional with national seed Vanderbilt. That regional is projected to include No. 2 seed Duke against third-seeded UC Irvine. Lipscomb is projected here as the No. 4 seed.

The Gamecocks begin SEC Tournament play at 10:30 a.m. ET against Georgia in a single elimination portion of the bracket.

They do have a hosting resume, albeit a fleeting one at the moment. South Carolina enters the tournament No. 6 in the RPI with 19 Quad I wins and a No. 5 strength of schedule.

A win or two in Hoover could solidify a hosting resume while an early exit could mean the Gamecocks are on the road heading to a regional.

South Carolina started the season hot, jumping out to a 34-6 record and going 13-4 in the SEC. Things cooled off after that with the Gamecocks losing four straight series to close league play and finishing 4-11 over their final 15 regular season games.

If South Carolina were to beat Georgia Tuesday morning it would mean playing LSU in the first game of the double-elimination portion of the bracket Wednesday morning, also scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET.

The official field of 64 will be announced Monday at noon with South Carolina finding out where it will be playing its regional.
