Injury Report: Who’s in, who’s out for No. 7 Tennessee vs Kent State
Tennessee will not be at full strength tonight with one starter expected to sit out this game more as a precaution to be ready for next week. The Vols still come into the contest rather healthy through two games, and Volquest looks at the injury report for Tennessee.
OT Lance Heard (OUT)
Tennessee will be without a key starter for the game with Kent State on Saturday night. Sophomore offensive tackle Lance Heard will likely go through warmups Saturday night but isn’t expected to play (ankle) sources tell Volquest. Additionally, sources tell Volquest that Heard would be good to go if this was a week from now, but out of precaution Heard will rest up for next week. Tennessee is expected to start Dayne Davis and John Campbell at tackle against the Golden Flash.
DL Caleb Herring (OUT)
The 6-foot-5, 249-pound sophomore defensive lineman was in street clothes during pregame warmups Saturday night. Herring has 2.0 tackles and one quarterback hurry in two games this season, playing 29 total snaps in the wins over Chattanooga and North Carolina State.
EDGE Jordan Ross (OUT)
Ross is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and it is still up in the air if the true freshman pass-rusher will see any time for Tennessee tonight.
RB Cameron Seldon (OUT)
Seldon missed last week’s game with a concussion and was not dressed for the game against Kent State.
Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley (IN)
Matthews and Staley have both nursed a hamstring injury for Tennessee and have suited up but not played yet for the Vols. That changes tonight as the two young standout wide receivers are expected to get plenty of run.
DB Jakobe Thomas (IN)
Thomas suffered a shoulder injury in the second half of the N.C. State game, but it was nothing that lingered. He is expected back in the Tennessee secondary on Saturday night.
