No. 6 Tennessee nearly a double-digit underdog at No. 11 Georgia
The consensus line for Tennessee Football’s game at Georgia on Saturday night has the Vols as a 9.5-point underdog, according to updated numbers from The Action Network on Sunday afternoon. The total is set at 53.5 and Tennessee is +500 on the money line.
The biggest spread as of Sunday afternoon was Tennessee +10.5 at FanDuel. The smallest line was Tennessee +8.5 at ESPN Bet. The Vols were initially set as 16.5-point underdogs when early lines were released for the game back in May.
No. 6 Tennessee (8-1, 5-1 SEC) and No. 11 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time start on ABC Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens.
Tennessee is 5-4 against the spread this season but has covered just once over the last five games.
The Vols covered against Chattanooga (-39.5), NC State (-8.5), Kent State (-49), at Oklahoma (-5.5) and at home against Alabama (+3.5). They failed to cover against Arkansas (-14), Florida (-14), Kentucky (-17.5) and Mississippi State (-24.5).

A Closer Look: Georgia
Georgia dropped its second game of the season on Saturday, losing 28-10 at Ole Miss. The first loss was at Alabama, 41-34 back in September. Georgia trailed 28-0 in the second quarter in Tuscaloosa, rallied to take a 34-33 lead with 2:31 left, then lost on a 75-yard Alabama touchdown pass just 13 seconds later.

Georgia jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one possession in the rain at Ole Miss on Saturday, but it was Rebels from there. The Bulldogs plummeted in the polls, dropping eight spots to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll and nine spots to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25.
Georgia beat then-No. 1 Texas 30-15 in Austin on October 19 and had to survive Kentucky for a 13-12 win in Lexington in Week 3.
The Series: Tennessee-Georgia
Georgia leads the all-time series against Tennessee 28-23-2. The Bulldogs have won seven straight in the series and 12 of the last 14, dating back to 2010.
Tennessee won back-to-back games against Georgia in 2015 and 2016, winning 38-31 in Knoxville and 34-31 in Athens.
The Vols trailed 24-3 midway through the second quarter at Neyland Stadium in 2015, before rallying to outscore the Bulldogs 35-7 from there. The 2016 game at Sanford Stadium ended with the 43-yard Hail Mary from Joshua Dobbs to Jauan Jennings, only moments after Georgia had gone ahead on a 47-yard touchdown with 10 seconds left.
Tennessee won nine straight in the series between 1989 and 1999, then Georgia answered with four straight from 2000 to 2003 and five of six through 2005.
The two teams first met in 1989, with Tennessee winning 5-0 in Knoxville. Georgia won 5-0 in Knoxville in the next meeting, in 1903.
